I’ve been involved with the African luxury eCommerce start-up OXOSI since the beginning, partnering on their branding, marketing, sales, design and editorial content.
As the Product Manager & Digital Content Lead, I was responsible for the design, buying, merchandising and management of products. My role included ensuring these deliverables were in-line with the OX brand and target audience.
This included the styling and presentation of products for editorial, press and the eCommerce platform.
DESIGN = DESIGN
My experience as the Product Manager & Digital Content Lead of OXOSI Inc. has prepared me for success as a user experience designer because you are required to meet the creative and business needs of the company.
When creating optimized content, curating a seasonal buy, or casting talent for an editorial you have to maintain a business mindset because you need your ideas to have a positive return of investment for the company.
The creative strategy has to be in-line with the larger business strategy and acquiring first-hand experience building a venture capitalist backed startup has provided me with the skills needed to be successful.
AFRICAN LUXURY MEETS THE WEB
This is the OX homepage. I assisted in the production of this shoot, allocating the products photographed above.
As a team, we were instrumental in the web design and layout of the site emphasizing the importance of a clean and functional platform that draws the user in with strong visuals and content.
Content management also plays a major part as this screen was utilized to pull users deeper into the OX branding experience.
This is the designer profile page. Here I was responsible for uploading the products into the back-end, assorting and optimizing the images on screen and writing the copy.
The brand’s voice was especially important here. We wanted to ensure that the designers we curated fit our aesthetic and thus had to speak to them in a way that matched our authoritative, tongue-in-cheek personality.

This is an OX Magazine article featuring products I merchandised and styled in-house.
Project management was essential as we would decide which concepts to build out for the magazine portion of the site. This required a lot of planning and coordination.
As the Product Manager & Digital Content Lead I conceptualized, managed and executed a portion of the editorial content that populated the OX Magazine.

Here you can see the brand’s playful personality shine through in the curation and styling. We have an eccentric sweater teamed with psychedelic shades toned down with cropped trousers and zip-up boots.
PUTTING A FACE TO A NAME
As the Product Manager & Digital Content Lead, I was instrumental in crafting the OX brand’s identity as it related to product and its presentation to our audience.
Below you will see images from photoshoots created for editorial and press coverage.

FROM OUR STUDIO TO THE WORLD
Once the photoshoot is completed and the editorial images are prepared they are now ready for press.
Below are images from press coverage received from my work above.

THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
Being a founding member of the amazing in-house OX team was a great opportunity which helped create the foundation for everything I do creatively today.
This experience taught me the importance of a strong team and being resourceful when working with limited resources.
Perseverance, hard work and tenacity got the job done and these are traits that I’ve carried forward to the present day.
